James (Jim) McClymont has been a dedicated leader to both the Ryde-Eastwood Family and the wider Rugby League community for more than five decades. Joining the Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club in 1969 as a key member, encouraged to be part of its growth due to his commitment to the Ryde-Eastwood Football Club, Jim played an instrumental role in building the Club’s foundations to support and grow both the club and Rugby League as a game in the local area.
Throughout his years of service, Jim has been recognised for his steadfast leadership and deep commitment to the values of the sport and the community. As a Director for over 25 years and President since 2017, he has helped guide the Club through a period of significant evolution — always ensuring that the Club remained true to its community roots while embracing the future. His recognition as a Life Member of Ryde-Eastwood Leagues Club stands as a testament to his enduring impact for the community and the ongoing support for Rugby League.
Beyond his leadership at the Leagues Club, Jim is a Life Member and Secretary of the Ryde-Eastwood Football Club, where he has worked tirelessly to promote the game at every level. His influence extends well beyond the Club itself — Jim has been a passionate advocate for junior Rugby League across the region, supporting the growth and success of countless local junior clubs. He has been a key driver in ensuring that both male and female participants receive fair opportunities, financial support, and importantly looks to drive education and development for players both on and off the field.
As a director since 2004 and Life Member of Leagues Clubs Australia, Jim’s vision and advocacy have benefited clubs across the nation. His dedication to the ongoing development and success of Rugby League and the industry as a whole is admirable. His commitment to improving affordability for players and families, particularly through initiatives addressing insurance costs, along with his passion for promoting the great work clubs do in and for their communities, will leave a legacy that continues to strengthen the Leagues Club movement.
